bumble’s success stories were being told all wrong.

SO.

i thought, let’s rehaul the entire platform. instead of telling stories in such a perfunctory way, let’s get couples to share the story of what made them realise ‘this is definitely my person’. the romance movie, slow-mo moments.

did they smash two pint glasses by accident but handled it so endearingly that it made you like them more?

maybe they picked up on every single simpsons reference you dropped throughout your second date?

or it’s the fact they sang while they were cooking you dinner, and they managed to hit every single word but miss every single note?

we then made an instagram/tiktok template so people could make their own films for their socials - which was super cool to see real couples show us their stories.

We also sent them some merch. Cos YA EARNED IT HUN

they were all, ‘we met on the app and 2 years later we’re engaged!’ end of.
that’s not a story. that’s not plot for a romcom. that’s not going to cause any daydreams during a zoom call.

we’d lost the fun from people’s dating stories, the moments that made this date different from all the other dates. that’s what we want to hear. those are the stories that i personally, am an absolute sucker for.

it became a big ongoing campaign that grew and grew and grew.

and we even remarried some couples in the little white chapel - but making it our own
